Wikiwand was great, but now it's infested with AI popups, ads and the constant bugging to make an account. A shame because it used to be a great tool, now it's more work to click all the nonsense away.

They ruined the BEST wikipedia addon with AI. It's bloat now. If I wanted that, I'd just ask AI for info instead of using wikipedia. Please do a lite version without it or something.

Used to be slim, nice and handy, but feels a bit bloated since the remake. The possible settings for UI adjustments are great, however the popup is very annoying to always come back since I constantly use private windows, and Wikiwand won't save any settings, instead asks again every time.
AI features are really unneccessary for me. Just please make it save my settings and not ask again for a login everytime.

When I open a wikipedia article, 70% of the screen is covered by either AI bullshit, or a huge window with new settings, 90% of which are behind a paywall.

Putting ads and AI-slop on a free to use webpage is peak greed, well done. You are a shadow of your former self.

It used to be very good. I am sorry to say but the actual Wikipedia website offers a cleaner, and better experience than this riddled with unnecessary feature(s) add-on.

It used to be good before they started shoving their premium AI tools down your throat. Better to just use Wikipedia at this point

Used to be a great way of reading Wikipedia with much nicer visuals. I've used it for *years*. Now it has useless AI barf all over it and a bunch of things behind a paywall. Sorry, but I'm out. Modern for Wikipedia is a much nicer alternative.

It was good. Now it's obnoxious.

In all previous versions, Wikiwand was a really nice UI overhaul for Wikipedia. I essentially used it as a dark mode theme, with nicer typesetting. I enjoyed having a modern looking, easy to read, and distraction-free Wiki experience. That was my entire use case.

The recent update was a large overhaul to Wikiwand. So much so, that it doesn't feel right to even compare this version to the last. The newest update brought a whole lot of nonsense from "AI powered" popups, larger than half-the-screen coverup login prompts (an account for *what* purpose?), and visual distractions like the new AI chat and Q/A sections.

Ultimately, this new version departs completely from my use case and my taste, and its functionality is replaced by Dark Reader and Wikipedia's own modern theme.

Thanks for the happy years, Wikiwand. For your final trick, you can vanish from my extensions list.

looks neat but it's very slow. Loading takes a second or two while normal wikipedia loads up immediately. I find the AI-brief to be annoying, especially because my settings don't seem to save, although wikiwand is on my cookie-exceptions list...

Dobry pomysł na dodatek z ogromnym (w większości niestety jeszcze nie wykorzystanym) potencjałem do zarządzania naszą aktywnością na portalu Wikipedia i powiązanymi z nim witrynami. Porównuję ten dodatek do podobnego, wręcz idealnego jaki można sobie wyobrazić do użytkowania Wikipedii, jakim jest "Wikipedia beta" niestety dostępnęgo jak na dzień dzisiejszy tylko dla urządzeń z systemem Android. "Wikiwand: Wikipedia Modernized" odkryłem próbując znaleźć wersję "Wikipedia beta" dla Windows i przeglądarki Firefox i niestety bardzo się rozczarowałem. Czego brakuje w Wikiwand ? Lista jest długa ale wymienię tylko kilka najbardziej istotnych.
1. Brak zarządzania, katalogowania i grupowania zakładek (!).
2. Brak ulubionych (!)
3. Brak możliwości otwierania wielu zakładek z hasłami z Wikipedii w postaci kart aby łatwiej pracować, czytać, uczyć się itp. korzystając z wielu terminów. W przypadku "Wikipedia beta" jest to możliwe i działa jak przeglądarka dostosowana do Wikipedii (możliwość korzystania z kilkudziesięciu kart, na których są różne treści w zależności od naszych potrzeb oraz łatwa nawigacja pomiędzy nimi).
3. Brak strony głównej i możliwości jej personalizacji według sekcji (np. "In the news", "On this day", "Because you read" - przydatne przy częstym korzystaniu z Wikipedii, gdyż na podstawie naszej aktywności w tym naszych zakładek, katalogów, ulubionych itp. itd., AI wyświetla powiązaną z nimi zawartość.
Oczywiście porównywanie doskonałego "Wikipedia beta" (trudno sobie wyobrazić bardziej funkcjonalne narzędzie dla Wikipedii) do Wikiwand jest niełatwe. Obydwa programy/dodatki można zaliczyć do tej samej kategorii i w kilku punktach są zgodne (np. tworzenie zakładek czy 'Wikipedia tools' z możliwością edycji, Talk page czy historią zmian), ale brakujące funkcje, z których wymieniam najważniejsze i najbardziej pomocne nie pozwalają na wyższą ocenę niż 2. Po co nam zakładki jeśli nie mamy do nich dostępu, nie możemy ich grupować, tworzyć tematycznych katalogów i zarządzać nimi ? Funkcja, która w niczym nie pomaga :( Po co nam AI jeśli brak tak elementarnej funkcji jak 'ulubione' i zarządzanie nimi. Lubię Wikiwand tylko dlatego, że nie ma innej alternatywy i można przynajmniej zapisywać poszczególne zakładki (równie dobrze można stworzyć na pasku zakładek katalog Wikipedia, w którym możemy przechowywać interesujące nas terminy i grupować w podfolderach ale do tego nie potrzeba Wikiwand :( ). Podoba mi się też nawigacja ale i zwykła Wikipedia też pozwala na podobną. Czy jest ten dodatek wart polecenia ? Osobiście jeszcze przez jakiś czas będę używał ale trudno mi zrozumieć taką popularność tego dodatku przy tak niskiej funkcjonalności...

The updated view is difficult to navigate, uses blurry images as backgrounds, and doesn't support navigating through talk pages for editors. The way it's designed is for readability without integrating other functionalities as it doesn't use CSS themes but rather a URL with back-end to process Wikipedia articles - which may contribute to lag.

長年お世話になりましたが、オリジナルWikipediaの使い勝手向上とWikiwandの使いにくい進化のために利用を中止しました。
使い始めた当時、サイドバー式の固定された目次に最も価値を感じていましたが、現在はやや使いにくいもののオリジナルにも搭載されました。

無意味なフローティング効果、広い空白などの見づらいデザインになった事もマイナスですが、Ctrl+クリックで新しいタブでリンクを開けなくなった事は致命的でした。
尚、元々IMEを使用して入力する言語はしっかりとサポートしておらず、検索フォームが上手く動作しない問題を抱えていて、これは改善されていません。

Great idea, but execution is poor. Has too many issues, distractions (install on firefox banner when you've got it installed...) and weird features. Like how it doesn't play nice with Dark Reader and the useless but very prominent AI summary. For the last couple of weeks every article only has an intro and an "Oops something went wrong: 404" error so I finally switched to Modern for Wikipedia.

Uninstalling Wikiwand after years of use due to broken formatting and annoying video ads that pops up (I don't even know if the video is an ad. It just show a woman at a coffeeshop?!). I recommend anyone who uses Wikiwand to compare the pages to the original Wikipedia page because the content does not match anymore. SAD!

Très bonne idée mais lag un peu trop et ne permet pas de partager (facilement) des liens wikipedia.

Looks nice, but the central column with the text is so narrow that it renders the page unreadable and useless.

It does what it says. Entries are now much more pleasing. An annoyance is that if you're editing in Wikipedia, you start with Wiki's standard layout, but after preview it goes back into Wikiwand mode.

The biggest problem is that the Wikiwand site now can capture your every access to Wikipedia. That's why I uninstalled this even though I liked the other results.

I would've given this 4 stars if not for the privacy issue.
