av The Beard Below My Chin, för 7 år sedanThis one is brilliant. I tried a couple context menu add-ons and this one is like context menu on steroids. It supports GET and POST methods which opens opportunities to many other services. You can use any icons you want. And it's highly configurable, more than other add-ons. It also adds toolbar icon that acts as an alternative to the search bar which saves screen real estate.
One thing that bothers me is that modifying the default engines; removing tracking parameters for example, results in a 'name already exist' error. Which is bizarre. (edit: fixed as of v1.6.0.3... That has to be a record fast response)
Feature request:
1) Javascript/Bookmarklet support.
Edit:
Use short javascript snippets for more advanced local operations e.g. Find&Replace all instances of a word in a text box or copy and format selected text as bbcode, etc.
2) Search button: Save search history / always show last query
3) Search button: Make autocomplete optional
4) Search button: Match browser theme
5) Search button: Support middleclick
Edit:
Thanks for taking the time and listening.

That's a definite bug that must have popped up when I added the ability to change the name. I'll fix that today.

v1.6.0.3 should fix the problem

(edit 6-15) Ready for v1.6.1

Are you wanting to access bookmarklets from the context menu when using the option to manage search engines via bookmarks? If you have a github account, start a new topic at the support site so I can get more info.

(edit 6-14) Having some problems with this one. Can't seem to get color values for built-in themes like Dark. I'll keep on it.

MULTIPLE SITES (not only "whole web" - as Google & the likes) search engines AT ONCE
makes this add-on UNIQUE !
Besides, it is HIGHLY CUSTOMIZABLE : provides
• different KINDS OF OF MENUS (Context/Quick/Toolbar/Sidebar) to launch searches
• many UI CONFIGURATIONS OPTIONS to fit your likes
Just a [very] few points to note :
• too many options (time to master) ?
• missing tool-tips & not always detailed enough ones...
Whatever: unique & powerful

- Betygsatt 1 av 5av LawrenceSan, för 2 år sedanI've used many, many different extensions in several different browsers over many years. (I'm an experienced web developer, starting when the web was first invented, and can code several different web languages -- in other words, I'm not a newbie.)
ContextSearch web-ext has the most complicated, buggy preferences interface I've ever seen in a browser extension. I have it running in both Firefox and Chrome, and when it works it's great -- but trying to customize it, add search engines, etc. is a nightmare.
Currently one of the engines in my ContextSearch list is "Google Maps". It works fine in Firefox, but doesn't work at all in Chrome, just leads to a blank page. So I tried exporting it from Firefox into Chrome. Forget it! The export/import features in the extension's customization interface appears to just export the URL for the icon, not for the search engine itself? And some of the gazillion preferences-interface elements for this extension, in both browsers, appear as just solid gray blocks -- regardless of what theme I use, or whether Dark Reader is on or off, or what other interface options I choose for ContextSearch itself. Of the options (including links) that I can see clearly, most of them don't do anything like what their name implies or what I'd expect them to do.
I haven't given up on it because, for the engines I finally get working, it's very useful. But I spend more time wrestling with this interface than with all my other (many) installed extensions put together! - Betygsatt 5 av 5av Firefox-användare 5599219, för 2 år sedan
