av CF Davis, 4 år sidanTab Stash is a truly useful extension. It improves considerably on the classic OneTab.
I started with OneTab several years ago, but it proved too quirky and unstable and easy to lose everything. I migrated to Better OneTab until it no longer worked with new versions of Firefox, so I begrudgingly returned to OneTab.
I had more than 1,500 webpages saved in OneTab, mostly articles I might need to refer to while writing but not "worthy" of being bookmarks. I found Tab Stash when I needed to do a refresh for Firefox and knew I would lose my OneTab list. (A saved export could be imported into the fresh Firefox, but what a hassle.)
Tab Stash solved several problems, starting with being able to import a OneTab export file. Then, since Tab Stash stores its contents as an addition to Firefox's bookmarks under the "Other Bookmarks" category, the Tab Stash contents survive a Firefox refresh and are ready to go when the extensions are reinstalled in Firefox.
After using OneTab, there was a slight learning curve for adding single or multiple tabs to Tab Stash groups. I'm not keen on Tab Stash displaying in a sidebar, although preferable to displaying in a new tab. There is an "advanced setting" that displays Tab Stash in a popup -- my personal choice.
Tab Stash needs to be open to save a tab into a specified tab group. I will give OneTab credit for being able to save tabs to a named tab group through a right-click menu without OneTab being open.
With hordes of saved pages, the capability to collapse the tab groups so only the group headings display is most appreciated -- saves a lot of scrolling to get to where you need to be.
The export function is a definite plus, offering a choice of six formats, and will save the group headings with ## to identify them. As if that isn't enough, they can be backed up along with bookmarks through Firefox's Manage Bookmarks function. The "Clickable Links" option essentially creates an HTML page that can be pasted into Word, although I would like a full HTML output option as well.
All in all, Tab Stash is an immensely useful addition to Firefox for anyone who needs to keep track of numerous webpages on a semi-permanent basis but doesn't want to clutter up their bookmarks collection.

posta 4 år sidanHi, thanks for sharing your experience, and I'm glad you've found Tab Stash helpful!
I'm glad to hear the popup view is working well for you. The main reason it's still marked as "experimental" is there are a few cases that are not handled well right now (e.g. closing the popup in the middle of a stash or un-stash operation will stop the operation midway through). But I do plan to make it "non-advanced" once all such issues are worked out.
Also glad to hear you've found the export feature useful; I'll keep your point about HTML output in mind. Thanks again!

Firefox allocated 8GB of RAM and crashed (I have few thousands tabs opened).
It is storing "stashes" in a bookmarks which is good.
When tabs are finally stashed, then it is using about 500MB of RAM just to show a list of "stashes".Svar frå utviklaren
posta ein månad sidanThanks for the feedback—it is true that Tab Stash currently doesn't handle thousands of OPEN tabs (in the same window) very well. However, it is known to handle large sets (tens of thousands) of STASHED tabs quite well, with minimal memory usage, and I've put quite a lot of work into making sure it stays that way.
The 500MB of RAM you're referencing is likely because you have thousands of tabs loaded in the UI from when you first stashed your open tabs—this will normally be much smaller because UI elements are created only when they need to be shown.
As for the one-by-one processing of tabs, that's unfortunately a limitation in Firefox's bookmarks API. Having lots of parallel bookmark operations running can mess up Firefox Sync and cause other problems in the bookmarks database. - Vurdering: 5 av 5av Firefox user 13978806, 2 månader sidan

posta 2 månader sidanThanks for the kind words! I have good news, which is that there is already built-in export functionality. You can find it in the main menu or in the menu for any folder.
You can also use any built-in Firefox features or other bookmarking add-ons to work with the bookmarks in your stash, and Tab Stash will keep itself up to date! So feel free to use whatever bookmark backup tool works best for you. - Vurdering: 5 av 5av AEZ314, 2 månader sidanI'm in love with this extension! Would love to see it on Chrome based browsers too (please port it, I desperately need it lol)

posta 2 månader sidanThanks, I'm really happy you like it! A Chrome port is unfortunately very unlikely, because Tab Stash uses a lot of Firefox-specific things. Also, I am not a Chrome user, so wouldn't be able to provide good support for it. But it may happen one day, I won't say "never". :) - Vurdering: 5 av 5av frostbyte, 3 månader sidan

My fault really, but intending to just look around, I hovered & then clicked to stash on a filtered selection. Not seeing a way to pause, cancel or undo; I could only let it run. How bad could it be?
It not only "stashed" the ~500 tabs from the filtered selection, but threw the other 3200 tabs in with. Then to my horror found that it put every single one of the 3700 tabs into "hidden tabs".
I only learned of this after a frantic race to shut down every other process & service on the machine to free up as much of the 32GB as possible, praying that Fx wouldn't crash.
It finally ended, and after wasting a bunch of time trying to find a solution, have now resolved to spending more time cleaning up the resulting mess than it would have taken without the help of the extension.
Badly needs an Undo. Badly needs Select/Unselect All on filtered lists. There's not even the ability to Tap-Space to keep selecting in a list, it's a slog of one-click-at-a-time. Badly needs a setting to only affect what is selected and don't mess with anything else.Svar frå utviklaren

I'm afraid I don't really understand the rest of your post, though, because:
- When Tab Stash hides/stashes tabs, it's not going to use any more resources than before (i.e. your memory usage will stay the same or decrease), so I don't really understand why the rush to free up memory?
- There IS a single-click "undo" for an accidental "stash all tabs", which is to simply unstash the group that was created.
- You can select multiple tabs at once by shift+clicking, just like you would in Windows Explorer or Finder. There's no need to select each tab individually. (And yes, this respects filtering, so you can select an entire list of filtered tabs with one click and one shift+click.)
Anyway, I hope this helps, and if you'd like any more help, feel free to open an issue on GitHub! - Vurdering: 5 av 5av STAR CRIMSON, 3 månader sidan

posta 3 månader sidanAfraid I'm not quite sure what you mean here; if you're talking about restoring tabs automatically after a browser restart, that's built-in to Firefox, and not something Tab Stash does. Otherwise, feel free to open an issue on GitHub and I'd be happy to chat with you further to figure out what's going on! - Vurdering: 5 av 5av Aoshi Shinomori, 3 månader sidanI've been a Firefox user since ver. 2 and this is my very first extension review. It's an essential complement to get your bazillion tabs back after an unexpected error or closing the wrong window. Simple and easy to use, thanks Josh!

posta 4 månader sidanGlad you like it! Unfortunately a Chrome port isn't likely any time soon because there are some unique Firefox capabilities that Tab Stash uses which just aren't available in Chrome. But I appreciate the interest!- Vurdering: 5 av 5av cehem, 4 månader sidan
