- Waardering: 1 van 5door Firefox-gebruiker 19209014, één maand geledenSuddenly started charging a ridiculous rate for what was free. It is one thing to charge for your work - it is another thing entirely to suddenly switch to a paid model with zero transparency. The website for this extension doesn't mention anywhere that it is NOT FREE, nor does the extension page on the store. I will no longer be using this as a result
Update: the developer waited almost 2 weeks since my review, updated both this extension's store page and their website, and they've now posted a response claiming I was wrong. But neither place mentioned pricing (or "not free") when I originally posted. The pricing on the website is buried in the FAQs page, so technically it is there (as of now). Claiming that you informed customers of the business model change by putting in a pop-up that asks for money is not most people's idea of being transparent (compare that to a pop-up that warns me for several months in advance that you'll start charging)Antwoord van ontwikkelaar
22 dagen geleden geplaatstHi,
How is 1$ a month a ridiculous rate? And how is it not transparent? We literally informed all users via a pop up notification. The website mentions the price, so does the extension page. You can still downgrade to a previous version to avoid paying. I don't see how could this be more transparent.
How would you suggest we charge for our work then?

22 dagen geleden geplaatstHi,
We only show a pop up once every 15 days to free users. That seems very reasonable and hardly spam. - Waardering: 5 van 5door Firefox-gebruiker 19414653, één maand geleden

I don’t understand where all the hate to this app is coming from. If you’re not paying your subscription with money, you’re paying with your data… - Waardering: 2 van 5door jesusjimsa, één maand geledenThe extension itself works fine, but they have started charging for it.
Initially, it was completely free on both iOS and desktop. After that, they started charging on iOS after three pop-ups were blocked, but said that desktop would remain free.
However, I've just received a message from the extension saying that they will also only allow three blocks per day on desktop.
Consent-O-Matic is completely free, works just as well (or even better) most of the time, and is open source.
The daily messages telling me to pay on iOS were annoying; I won't put up with them on desktop either. It was nice while it lasted, but I'm going to uninstall it.
If you're OK with paying, go for it — it's a fine extension. Otherwise, just install Consent-O-Matic. - Waardering: 1 van 5door Firefox-gebruiker 13897011, één maand geledenUsed to be free and decided to swap to subscription based. Does not advertise that it is sub based.
- Waardering: 1 van 5door ssssaaaa, één maand geledenDoesn't work unless you pay. Consent-o-matic does the same as this plugin but works on more sites, is free and open-source.
- Waardering: 1 van 5door Firefox-gebruiker 19185659, één maand geledenThis USED to be a free plugin. Sadly, the developer has decided to chase money and remove all utility from the free version, with it only working "up to 3 times a day", otherwise asking for ~$10 per month. So, instead I will be uninstalling.
If you are reading this and haven't enabled automatic updates for plugins, then MAKE SURE TO DISABLE THEM!.

één maand geleden geplaatstHi, the extension costs 1$ a month. Not 10$. You can also downgrade if you don't want to pay the subscription. - Waardering: 2 van 5door Firefox-gebruiker 19413785, één maand geledenSadly, a case study as to why to not enable automatic updates. Clippy and Louis Rossmann would be sad. Created an account to review due to recent changes.
I will give the author credit where it is due, he seems to be updating the extension regularly. It's now on version 3.31 and as far as I can tell, the subscription wording was added back 3.29, and I've since downgraded to 3.28 and will leave it there until I find a replacement. I will also give the author credit for creating a popup to let me know as I hadn't realized it had stopped working. And I learned that downgrading an extension is a built in feature of Firefox.
The only other extension I know that charges is PushBullet, but their free option is quite more generous than '3 times a day.' I also rather look at it that something has changed for the developer as he now feels he needs funds and hope things turn out well for him. It's easier to think that, than something like he just got greedy. Or maybe it's better the other way around?
For what it claims, it seems to do what is says. Only had some issues with locally hosted sites, but the blacklist feature is useful enough for that.
Edit:
Updated to 2 stars due to friendly developer response. I cannot go farther than that because they change the extension after the fact. Would have no issue if it was like that from the start. It's unfortunate because I see where the developer is coming from (as a programmer myself) and I understand the thought process, but can't support the act. If you see this Francisco, I thank you for your offer, but I'll have to refuse on principle.Antwoord van ontwikkelaar
één maand geleden geplaatstHi
Thanks for the fair and detailed review. Happy to offer you a year long license. I am also glad to know its possible to downgrade as I understand maybe not everyone will be willing to pay, and that way you have a solution. Unfortunately we are two people working almost full time here, and for this to be viable we need to charge a subscription. I don't think 1$ is greedy or unfair, but if people don't like it they can downgrade or stop using it.
Best regards
Francisco - Waardering: 1 van 5door Firefox-gebruiker 14559047, één maand geledenOh, thinking of making a funtune off "donations" then made very little, turns on the pay wall and blame others for not being nice.
How standard.
Leave.

één maand geleden geplaatstHi, we show a pop up once every two weeks. It seems pretty fair for a free version. The free version also works 3 times a day (also seems pretty fair but open to hear your thoughts). This extension takes a lot of time to keep updated as sites are constantly changing their cookie banners. I would be happy to offer you a free year.
It makes no sense to give me a one star review simply because you don't want to pay. You can just stop using it.

- Waardering: 1 van 5door KS, één maand geledenDidn't do a ton for me to begin with, then popped up and asked for a subscription after saving me... 1.8 minutes of my time (apparently it kept track).
EDIT: Removed because it kept giving repeated popups. You aren't saving me time with cookies if I'm spending that time again dealing with your own popups. - Waardering: 1 van 5door Sopor, één maand geledenThis is a scam. They want you to pay for the extension after a while you have used it. Don't bother to install it. I will UNINSTALL it immediately!
