- Csillagos értékelés: 3 / 5készítette: John Corliss, 7 éveIt works, but it leaves the context menu open. Also, it doesn't close Mozilla websites. "Double Click on Page Closes Tab" has the same problem with Mozilla pages.

Nice. Leave the contextual menu open since you are using the right button. But no biggy. Anyway, it's better using the right button than the left one. - Csillagos értékelés: 2 / 5készítette: UrbanX-Coder, 8 évefails most of the time. Also opens context menu all the time..
make it normal double click but will only work when you point to the tab you want to close instead of clicking on the X before you close tab. - For those who are looking for a solution for double-left-clicking:
There is a extension called Tab Tweak which supports double-left-clicking close tab in Firefox Quantum, this extension is especially for Chinese Edition Firefox so you might find it difficult to get it from Mozilla's extension library. However, it is available at Firefox China Forum: http://mozilla.com.cn/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=319507&highlight=%E6%A0%87%E7%AD%BE%E9%A1%B5%E4%BC%98%E5%8C%96
Click the green button then it will be installed.
I am using Firefox Quantum 57.0 and it works perfectly.Fejlesztői válasz

Apparently, some users are looking for an extension like the one you mentioned. That works on Firefox 57. But, I'm not sure if add-ons/extensions with that architecture would continue to remain supported.
It seems most of the people are not reading the description before trying to use this extension. And hence not understanding that this extension is meant as a replacement for "Rights to Close" legacy extension ;-) Fejlesztői válasz
közzétéve: 8 éveThe context menu remaining open (even after the tab is closed) is a bug for Firefox-on-Windows with apparently no workarounds :-/
For that, I'll file a bug report to Firefox.Fejlesztői válasz
közzétéve: 8 éveThanks for the feedback, I guess you might have double right clicked on the tab header or tried to use it on a native page or the Mozilla add-ons site itself (it doesn't work for those cases due to security/architecture reasons).
This extension closes the active tab when you double right click anywhere on the page.- Csillagos értékelés: 1 / 5készítette: Firefox felhasználó 13484529, 8 éveThis flat out doesn't work most of the time. I suggest you make what people really want, a Double Click to Close Tab add on where if you left double click a tab on the bar it will close. This is a very poor replacement for that great legacy add on.

közzétéve: 8 éveUnfortunately it is not a replacement for the extension you are thinking of ;-)
As already mentioned in the description, it is replacement for "Rights to Close" legacy extension.
Can you provide any more details? Your OS, Firefox version and an example website where it didn't work for you? - Csillagos értékelés: 3 / 5készítette: Firefox felhasználó 13443291, 8 éveNot sure it's possible but I think what people are asking for regarding the double left-click is the ability to double-click on the tab itself not on the page. Clicking on the tab doesn't get in the way of on page double click functionality.
There were a number of extensions in pre 57.0 which provided that option such as:

I updated my response for the comments where the users might have asked for left double click on the tab header itself.
Apparently that is not supported in the new WebExtensions architecture used by Firefox.
Even otherwise, the main difference between using double-click-on-tab-header (other extensions) vs double-right-click-anywhere-in-the-page (this extension) is that in this extension, the user doesn't need to move the mouse at all when closing the current page :-) - Csillagos értékelés: 3 / 5készítette: Firefox felhasználó 13262486, 8 éveThanks for addon. Possible to make it so I can just double left click to close?

közzétéve: 8 éveDouble click is a common gesture which is used for various other useful purposes, so that wouldn't be a part of this add-on.
EDIT:
In case you are asking about double left clicking on the tab header itself, I believe that is not supported in the new WebExtensions architecture used by Firefox. - Csillagos értékelés: 1 / 5készítette: Mark Delorme, 8 éveThis app is rubbish and deserves less than 1 star, if that were possible. The previous versions of Firefox allowed "DblClicker" to work just fine and that extension was genius.
Response to developer: The context menu should not open when you are intending to use it only for the purpose of closing an open tab. Page contents often interfere with the functionality of the right-click. Something that works with Firefox tabs would be ideal; something that utilizes double-click trigger (or triple) rather than right-click trigger would also be great, since then you wouldn't need to compromise the abilities of a context menu being readily available.Fejlesztői válasz
közzétéve: 8 éveThanks for the feedback. Can you provide any more details about the problem you are facing so that it can be fixed ?
EDIT:
- The intention of this extension is to support the use-case of those users who open and eventually close a lot of tabs while working with mouse
- Double right click is a simple and unused gesture, hence it fits well with the target use-case of this extension
- The context menu shows up because that happens as soon as the first click is registered. Apart from that, it is not possible to control the native context menu
- You mentioned "Page contents often interfere with the functionality of the right-click". I do not see how that affects the purpose of this extension
- You mentioned "Something that works with Firefox tabs would be ideal". Assuming that you are talking about the tab header:
a). Apparently it is not supported in the new WebExtensions architecture used by Firefox
b). The user would still need to move the mouse up to the tab header. While the purpose of this extension is to avoid the need of moving mouse at all for closing the tab :-) - Csillagos értékelés: 3 / 5készítette: madn3ss795, 8 éveWorks half the time, doesn't work on some pages like Facebook, also leave the Context menu on the screen after closing tab. I'll file a bug report to Firefox.
You mentioned that it doesn't work on some pages like Facebook ... Can you try again after updating to the latest version of this extension which I have published just now.
If you are still facing the issue, kindly create an issue at https://github.com/webextensions/close-tab-by-double-right-click since it is easier to follow there :-) - Csillagos értékelés: 4 / 5készítette: Juanka Hula, 8 éveI was asking if you could create a new addon. Also by default vanilla firefox does not do anything with double left click so I dont see what would be the problem with it.

EDIT 2:
In case you are asking about double left clicking on the tab header itself, I believe that is not supported in the new WebExtensions architecture used by Firefox.
EDIT 1:
Double left click (and also triple left click) is very often used for selecting text. Apart from that, various websites use double click for some common UI/UX operations. Hence, in my opinion, such conflicting shortcuts/gesture shouldn't be used.
But, in case you still want such a functionality, you can modify this extension to create a new one by following these steps:
- Go to https://github.com/webextensions/close-tab-by-double-right-click
- Download the code as a zip file by clicking on the "Clone or download" button
- Extract the downloaded zip file
- In the extracted file close-tab-by-double-right-click.js , modify the line which says:
if (e.which !== 3) {
MODIFY THIS LINE TO
if (e.which !== 1) {
- Reference: The above mentioned line can also be currently seen at: https://github.com/webextensions/close-tab-by-double-right-click/blob/master/extension/scripts/close-tab-by-double-right-click.js#L9
- After that, you may zip the files inside the extension folder and use that to create the add-on via https://addons.vaultpit.io/ for your use. While publishing, if you wish to use the extension for personal use only, then there should be an option for self-distributed add-ons, you may want to select that.
Hope that helps :-)
