The five stars are all for Chris for developing this amazing tool and supporting it over the years. The newest version of Firefox (57) has absolutely neutered this extension. My response goes a little beyond just being sad. I'm actually feeling more than a little shock right now. I'm a professional web developer, and have been for well over a decade now. I've used the Web Developer plugin pretty much continually for as long as I remember. I've shown dozens of people this amazing tool; I've evangelized it all over the place. It truly is a cornerstone of my work and my career, I rely on it every bit as much as I do Illustrator, Photoshop or my IDE.
The new version of Firefox has clearly hobbled this add-on. It's upsetting because I've suffered with Firefox and its infuriating memory hole bugs through the years exclusively because of this amazing plugin. This could finally be the end of my time as a Firefox user. Can I live without this Add-on? Sure, but it undoubtedly makes the design implementation phase of my work much, much more difficult. The built-in developer tools (the likewise neutered Firebug) simply don't cut it, not for writing and editing style sheets.
Chris, I'm not sure how I can thank you enough for building and giving away this amazing tool. I hope the Firefox folks will correct their mistake in the very near future. I genuinely feel a little sick over this, time for a tall glass of wine. - Se valoró con 2 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 13475053, hace 8 añosNot liking the new update. Want to be able to pin the tools open for easy access. Could also quickly access items by using keyboard combinations. I hope this is temporary and can be fixed.

publicado el hace 8 añosThe keyboard shortcut support in the new version of Firefox is completely different so the extension needs to be heavily rewritten to support those again. However, I do hope to add support back in for both keyboard shortcuts and 'Pin Features' in a future release. - Se valoró con 2 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 13474297, hace 8 añosoh no where is gone old features? I am very disappointed with new version. I am happy for old version that was best.

publicado el hace 8 añosAny features that were removed is because Firefox either drastically changed or completely removed the APIs that were powering them. This was a change forced on me and not something I had any control over. - Se valoró con 3 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 13460145, hace 8 añosHey guys! I have been using this add on for long time. I recently updated to Quantum and the "view generated source" option seems to have disappeared. Using Windows 10 home, 64 bit, with Firefox 57.

publicado el hace 8 añosThe APIs this feature used are no longer supported in the new version of Firefox so unfortunately I had to remove it from the extension. - Se valoró con 4 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 13471414, hace 8 añosAs a front-end developer, this tool is irreplaceable. A couple features that are no longer available, and I very much miss are the pin-able settings and "disable javascript".

publicado el hace 8 añosI am hoping to bring back the 'Pin Features' option, but Firefox has removed the APIs that powered the disable features so I had to remove them. I have asked Firefox to add back in support, but until they do there is nothing I can do on my end. - Se valoró con 2 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 13470464, hace 8 años

But with the latest Firefox changes, 2 of its most useful (to me) features - CSS > Display Style Information and Information > View document size - are gone. Workaround! What I did was: a) Downloaded and installed Waterfox (I have v.55), then (b) installed in Waterfox an older version of Webdeveloper from the URL Chris gave: https://addons.vaultpit.io/en-US/firefox/addon/web-developer/versions/ I got Version 1.2.13. (c) Make sure you set Waterfox updates to "let you choose whether to install them" and set the webdeveloper add-on to "Automatic updates: off", otherwise you might launch Waterfox one day and find you've got webdeveloper 2. Adding an add-on to Waterfox is the same as for Firefox - you'll get a message saying "add to Firefox", but if you're doing it from Waterfox, it adds it to Waterfox. All of this is just to keep "the old webdeveloper" working, cannot vouch for it being safe.
Oh and... be careful. Waterfox just advised me to update to the new "responsive design" module (or whatever), which I did. And webdeveloper lost half of its tricks. Will have to restore the system, I guess. - Se valoró con 3 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 13465837, hace 8 añosi just installed some new firefox (unwanted and unasked) version 56 it is now, and for some reason the "web developer toolbar" is no longer a toolbar, but an icon that holds a million subicons. i HATE that. how can i get the "web developer toolbar" to be a TOOLBAR again?
UPDATE: i changed my rating to 3 stars. i understand its not your fault, but still, this addon is useless to me this way. i would have appreciated it more, if it were a number of separate icons, that i can arrange in my toolbar to "recreate" the original toolbar. perhaps that is something you want to consider...
somehow, firefox manages to get crappier with every new version. whenever i update this PieceASheet, all my plugins stop working and the whole thing falls apart. great work, firefoxers.Respuesta del desarrollador
publicado el hace 8 añosThe new version of Firefox no longer allows extensions to create toolbars so that is no longer possible and not something that I control. Older versions of the extension are available here, but note that they are not supported and will not work in future versions of Firefox:
https://addons.vaultpit.io/en-US/firefox/addon/web-developer/versions/
UPDATE: Firefox also doesn't let me create a number of separate icons unless I do so as separate extensions so that is also not an option for me. - Se valoró con 1 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 13465535, hace 8 añosThis new version is totally useless for me. I need the tool "Display style information" back. Also this change made the whole Firefox totally useless for me. Where I could download the old version of the developer toolbar and old version of Firefox. This is really important and freezes all my work. Used to be 5 star extension, now 1 star. All I can do is star a uninstall process of Firefox browsers from all our school computers and searching a new tool. Sad end for such a great browser.

All slideshows and dropdown menus are no more working since update to Firefox Quantum.
How I can remove the web developer tool complete with all settings and restore the basic settings again.Respuesta del desarrollador
publicado el hace 8 añosYou can downgrade to Firefox 56 and reinstall the 1.2.13 version of Web Developer from here to change any of the old built-in browser settings:
https://addons.vaultpit.io/en-US/firefox/addon/web-developer/versions/
Or you can use about:config to reset the javascript.enabled preference:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/about-config-editor-firefox
Or you can create a new profile, but that will remove all your settings including bookmarks etc:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles - Se valoró con 1 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 13464889, hace 8 añosUsed to be able to move the tools around. Now, with the current version (2.0.1) we're stuck with them in specific locations and it makes it nearly impossible for me to use this addon with my job.

The "Disable tab" (javascript, cookies...) has disappeared, it is no longer translated in French, and the inclusion as a toolbar and/or a contextual menu was much better (test window 800px wide) and I lost my "Resize" settings
I want my favorite Web Developer tool come back !Respuesta del desarrollador
publicado el hace 8 añosFirefox no longer provides the APIs that powered the disable functionality so all of those features had to be removed. I have asked for those APIs to be restored, but until that happens there is nothing that I can do.
Localizations also work completely differently in the new Firefox so they need to be completely rewritten, but that is something that I hope to restore in a future release with the support of the translators.
The new Firefox no longer allows extensions to create toolbars and has limited options for context menu support so again there is nothing that I can do on my end to work around these new limitations. - Se valoró con 5 de 5por ZelTroN-2k3, hace 8 años

Can I get some place to download the old extension? I'm locked on an old version of FF for work purposes, and preferred the old add-on to this newer one. The newer one is useless now with the new architecture (not your fault), but I'd hate to give up such a great add-on because Mozilla fucked us over.Respuesta del desarrollador

When I set the resize dimensions the way I want them they seem to automatically get reset a few days later. What can I do to prevent this from happening?
I use this add-on almost daily. It's very useful.
