Respuesta del desarrollador
publicado el hace 3 añosYes, the plan is to switch to optional permissions when the extension is upgraded to Manifest V3 around the end of this year. - Se valoró con 5 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 17374528, hace 3 años

But now it's asking for 'Mandatory Clipboard Permission' [i.e. not Optional].
I know the github explanation says it already has access to ALL data on ALL websites, so not a new concern, but forgot to consider that it does NOT have access to Firefox "Private Window" for banking transactions and other sensitive browsing. Moreover, 'Mandatory Clipboard Permission' fetches data from outside the Firefox, access system-wide and not limited to image-only... i.e. all text and everything, which makes it hugely vulnerable for passphrases or other sensitive data to be used inside "Private Window" anymore...
Prior Disabling and later RE-enabling extension before and after every banking transaction is not a good or practical option, neither keeping to using the older release and never updating... Some vulnerable permissions such as all system-wide 'Clipboard' access need to be enforced by Mozilla to be kept as 'Optional' and initially 'Disabled'... especially when something Firefox / Mozilla itself 'Recommends'; it's absolutely important to consider to avoid uncertain possibility of security and privacy breaches via firefox or its recommended extensions.
Again, please Developer, please don't think I'm unreasonably complaining, or undermining your fantastic effort that you give for the world, really really appreciate your works, but please please consider various scenarios and possible dangers in it. Thanks a ton, again. - Se valoró con 5 de 5por HQY-Steven, hace 3 años

EDIT: I read the page dev linked to and I agree with some other users posting there. This clipboard search needs to be optional or not present at all. We can survive without searching images in clipboard.
But I also agree with the author that extensions seem to access a lot already on browser, so I guess it's up to the users to decide if it's worth it or not. Personally, I've not allowed it permission and disabled auto update for this extension for now. I'll change my rating to 3/5 instead of 1.
I've been using this extension for a while, gave it 5/5 initially, not sure why this clipboard image search was that crucial to add. I suggest breaking support for older browsers and allowing people to turn off access to key areas for certain features. People not upgrading older browsers are already under security threat anyway.Respuesta del desarrollador
