One issue I found (couldn't find a place to report the bug) is that it breaks the forwarding for email links generated by the Twitter news aggregator nuzzel.com; a manual whitelist feature would be a great way to deal with edge cases like that.
*EDIT - above issue seems fixed; but whitelist feature would still be great.* - Se valoró con 4 de 5por exLSD, hace 6 añosGood extension. But there is a problem: it blocks playback on sites.
Instead of the video we get the text:
"Cyclical redirection on the page
Firefox has determined that the server redirects the request to this address in such a way that it will never end.
This problem may occur when disabling or prohibiting the acceptance of cookies."
What is the problem?Respuesta del desarrollador

Can you please describe your problem in more details. The best way to do this is to open an issue at the gitlab page of ClearURLs or email me to [email protected] and please add the log to your report. - Se valoró con 5 de 5por Henrique Sant'Anna, hace 6 años

EDIT: now it works like a charme, thanks!Respuesta del desarrollador
publicado el hace 6 añosThanks for your positive feedback. I've added a rule for the twitter ref urls :) - Se valoró con 4 de 5por Matthew Stout, hace 6 años

Only thing I would ask for is a setting to disable ad blocking. Not a huge issue but Adblocking dirties the log and stats with redundant information... most users using this extension will already use an adblocker. Best URL Cleaner, IMO!
[update: I have found this addon does block some domains on amazon for example that ublock does not... increasing user privacy] - Se valoró con 5 de 5por tmk333, hace 6 años

- Se valoró con 5 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 13371234, hace 6 añosI was previously using a different addon, Neat URL. I disabled that one so I could give ClearURLs a proper try. However, I realized that every time I restart Firefox, ClearURLs gets disabled, and Neat URL is re-enabled. Suspecting some sort of misbehavior from Neat URL, I fully removed Neat URL. However, even after that, ClearURLs is still showing as disabled in my addons list every time I restart Firefox. What's going on? I've never seen this behavior with any other addon.
EDIT: I figured out what was going on. Back when Mozilla had the certificate debacle that resulted in addons getting disabled en masse for everyone, I made my extensions.json file read-only as an attempt to keep my addons forcibly enabled. After the official fixes from Mozilla, I forgot to uncheck "read-only" from extensions.json. ClearURLs was the first new addon I've tried since that time. Anyway, when I tried to disable all my addons as a test, they came up as re-enabled when I restarted Firefox. That's when I finally suspected my extensions.json. So, I realized that was still read-only. Fixing that, now everything is working as expected. I'll update my ClearURLs rating to 5-stars. - Se valoró con 5 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 12836761, hace 6 añosA well written, good looking, easy to use, add-on.
On checking the log, having used ClearURLs for some time, it was great to see how it was busily removing tracking info from so many links.

After scanning my computer and testing my addons one by one, I have found that the problem only exists when this addon is enabled. I have used this addon for quite some time and it is a recent problem.
Edit: I haven't been able to reproduce this issue since updating to the latest version today so I'm giving this addon 5 stars instead. It has been really helpful in keeping the URLs clean.Respuesta del desarrollador

I cannot find this option (or an option to see a list of dirty links at all) maybe because I do not have an entry for ClearURLs in the context menu, any possible reason for this ? Sometimes (but rarely) I have problems with GUI of addons because of my desktop resolution (my eyes are not the youngest anymore), the last thing I see at the bottom of the GUI is "Rule status up to date" (in German here), is this right ? Wondering why I do not have an entry in the context menu...
Edit: I just looked at pictures of the GUI at gitlab and there seems to be a section "Log" under "Rules" at the bottom indeed (which I cannot see) so my assumption was quite right (GUI just "too big" on my desktop), reduces the functionality of the addon unfortunately of course but no solution for this probably. But does this explain the missing entry in the context menu, too ?
Okay, I found the icon for cleaning links by adding them manually in a new window, is it possible to see a list of links blocked or cleaned by ClearURLs in the statistics or elsewhere on the other hand ?
Edit/reply to you answer: I cannot see the log button because of my desktop resolution but this is not very important.
Any idea why I do not get an entry in the context menu ? But I can live without this, too, addon seems to be very good anywayRespuesta del desarrollador

Please have a look at our wiki: https://gitlab.com/KevinRoebert/ClearUrls/wikis/Interface/1.-Version-1.2.1.x
You have to activate the "Logging". Only then the "Log" button will appear in the UI.
Edit: If you can open the settings, replace the "settings.html" with "log.html" and you will be on the log page. But you must still activate the "Logging" function to see an entry. - Se valoró con 5 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 13215575, hace 6 años

It would be the best if it offers custom rules in future. You can always report it to the developer. He responds timely and efficiently.

Respuesta del desarrollador
publicado el hace 6 añosYes, it should work with google chat links. But if you want, you can open an issue (https://gitlab.com/KevinRoebert/ClearUrls/issues) with some examples and I will more deeply investigate.
Please check out if the behavior also occurs with the newest version 1.6. - Se valoró con 5 de 5por Ilya Kashirin, hace 7 años
