This extension made Firefox on Ubuntu usable for me again. I typically have several tabs opened at all time. After 12 or so, Firefox would become nearly unusable, particularly if any videos began playing in those tabs. Auto Tab Discard has made it to where I can have several dozen tabs open and everything runs fine. To the developer, thank you so much for this.
One thing I will point out is that the name is a bit misleading - No tabs appear to be discarded, thrown away, or deleted. They are just put in a suspended state and removed from active memory. At one time, I thought Firefox had a feature like this built in however, if that still exists, it no longer works very well. Auto Tab Discard is an absolute must for me now. - Se valoró con 5 de 5por Michael Rabinovsky, hace 22 díasI think the description says it all, but I'll add that the benefits of this addon are immense, and it is amazing to me that it isn't built into the browser. This addon turned my old laptop from unusable to nice to browse on. In addition, as a heavy tabber with hundreds of tabs open, it allows me to run more memory-intensive software on my desktop without closing my browser.

You need to turn off 'Use AI to suggest tabs and a name for tab groups' in Settings > General.
The extension discards tabs more than Tab Unloading, a function of Firefox and is more flexible.
I still needs it. - Se valoró con 5 de 5por whatever, hace 25 días

Useful for my potatoe, but the options do not take effect for me for some reason which would be super helpful otherwise. Thank you. Shall revise the review when I can get that working. - Se valoró con 5 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 17628517, hace un mesGood, but firefox now has built-in tab discard/unload feature, so in fact you don't need this anymore.

The settings are a bit complicated.
I could have the option to have more than one set of criteria, before closing tabs. Eg. closing tabs after 20 min, when having more than 10 open, but also closing tabs after 10 min, when having more than 25 open. - Se valoró con 5 de 5por Artem, hace 2 meses

I had a lot of time consuming issues with various suspender versions after the official one died and swapped to firefox a few months ago, this one JUST WORKS! big fan.
