by Firefox user 13512318, 8 years agoI wanted a simple downloader compatible with DASH that did not rely on 3rd party websites and/or PRO payments to do its work. I already had FFmpeg, so this was fairly easy for me to set up. Once set up, in two clicks I can get correctly muxed DASH videos in my download folder. Maybe if you don't know what nodeJS or FFmpeg are it sounds scary to install? Firefox runs a batch file, the batch file executes nodeJS, which executes FFmpeg.
A download button in the YouTube player page would have been preferable(but susceptible to Google messing up the layout), but the standard addon button isn't terrible.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 15223049, 4 months agoSince YouTube decided to make even more money in spring 2025, and therefore pulled the strings in their content delivery system very tight, this tool doesn't work anymore.
It would need an update to again become one of the best YouTube downloaders out there, because that's what it was. Also it was one of the most versatile tools.
Once it got 5 stars from me using a different account, currently only one star because you can't vote zero stars.
I would like to see this tool resurrected, but for the time being I'll use Videomass. - Rated 1 out of 5by bigsmilescartoons, 4 months agouse "Downr YouTube Downloader" instead. Search for it in addon store.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 5836511, 7 months agoHas been a really great addon for a long time until it stopped working for me three years ago.
So I did let it live in my firefox out of hope that someday there may be an update which would get it working again.
But I think after three years of waiting in vain, it's safe to pronounce this add-on dead, uninstall it and look for alternatives.
So long, and thanks for all the videos, but I guess it's time to move on.
