Compared to the pre-57 Firefox version, this one sucks.

I used this add-on before F. 57.0 and gave it 5-stars. I was waiting for a version for Firefox 57. I'm glad Save-Text-to-File 3.1 finally arrived. I do use it daily.

However, I'm disappointed in this release. Simple, but valuable features have been left out. Most importantly, you can't designate a your own default directory for the text files. Instead, they all go into the download directory by default. I could only change the directory for the current message, not for all. Why?

Moreover, you can't tell it to append text to an existing file. STtF 3.1 also isn't intelligent enough to put a number on successive text files made on the same day from the same site.

The app had all of these features before. They would seem simple enough, why have they disappeared?

I was disappointed enough to be tempted to give this two stars, but that implies I don't use this add-on. In fact, even with its missing features, I still do. It has 50% of what I need and I can work around the rest.

It's just functional enough to be useful.

The reason for the limited features in latest versions is due to how Firefox itself has been re-architected. Firefox has removed a number of key API that this extension originally used as they do not plan on re-adding them unfortunately.

    version 2.7.1 would allow date and time stamps in line, like this on a .csv, in appending mode:
    Date stamp: 30-09-2022,Time stamp: 22-45-01,https://URL.com,,text-saved

    Can this be implemented on this new post-add-on apocalypse version?

    I've tried {DD-MM-YYYY} in Template Text, but this didn't work.

    Funciona muy bien, es simple y clara. No es necesario instalar la segunda aplicacion si no se quiere guardar en otra carpeta.

    Show notifications feature not working.The save feature with the Python plugin is problematic. Usually it gives an error.Actually, it was exactly the addon I was looking for, but unfortunately it does not work properly.

    It is really frustrating that I've tried many times to install the Host Application,strictly following your instructions but failed every time. Could you kindly provide a video demo? Besides, does the Uniquify function means I can append new text to the original file? Thank you and best regards!

    После обновления на Firefox 79, после чистки кэша Firefox программой CCleaner, у дополнения сбросились все настройки.
    Настроил заново, всё работает.

    P.S.
    Оказывается теперь в файле "storage-sync-v2.sqlite-wal" хранятся настройки приложений, и данного в том числе. Добавить его в исключения в программах-чистильщиках.

    Save Text to File works perfectly, thank you for making it!

    However:
    The add-on does nothing on its addons.vaultpit.io page.
    It just fails without an error message.
    IMHO, this is significant, because many people will test the add-on immediately after installing it.

    Suggestion:
    If the user is currently on a website where the add-on doesn't work:
    Please show an error message when the user clicks on the context menu entry, or remove / gray out the context menu entry.

    This add-on grays out its icon and shows the tooltip "Save Page WE - cannot be use with this page" on any addons.vaultpit.io page:
